Welcome to Night-onCall
Funded and supported by the Josiah Macy JR, Macy initiative and WISE MD program.
Developed in partnership with NYU and MCW, and participating consortium medical schools.
Given the removal of Step II Clinical Skills Exam, Night-onCall helps prepare and assess medical learners preparedness through a series of cases and activities they would expect to do on their first night on call.
Are your near graduates ready for the challenges of internship and residency?
This simulation will help support your medical students and institution to determine if your learners are ready for internship. It will provide a rich level of feedback for guided professional improvement.
About NOC
Night-onCall (NOC) is a comprehensive simulation that provides fourth year medical students the opportunity to assume the on-call responsibilities of a resident intern while rotating through a series of clinically authentic scenarios. The experience is designed to prepare graduating medical students for the transition-to-internship and ultimately to help minimize the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) to Graduate Medical Education (GME) medical training continuum gap. If your school is interested in running Night-onCall, please fill out the contact details below.
When you sign up to participate for NOC, you can select which case you’d like your medical learners to experience, and all you need to do is train the various standardized roles in the scenario. The NOC Application contains all the materials for training, checklists, data capture and reporting in an automated and frictionless fashion for your learners and you!
Explore NOC
Night-OnCall provides ready-to-use cases, training materials, and checklists to standardize the simulation experience and rate medical students’ performance.
An online application is available to capture, analyze, and generate reports for medical learners and schools.
Cases
Seven clinical cases were designed to evaluate a near graduate’s ability to assess patients, form diagnoses, gather informed consent, and thoughtfully engage a number of actors. All training materials for the various roles in the case, checklists for assessment, labs and additional case materials are available.
NOC Application
The Night-OnCall Application is a data capture and data reporting software that is specifically designed to make the process of rating students, collecting data, analyzing and generating reports seamless for both medical schools and students.
Medical Learners receive a detailed report regarding their performance, and medical schools receive these reports, along with a summary of how well their medical learners performed overall.
Assessments & Reports
Medical Learners are assessed on their communication, history and physical examination skills, note writing, cultural safety, clinical reasoning, transfer of case content to a resident, and evidence based skills.
